Committed to Innovative Holocaust Research, Education, and the Future of Memory

The Hub for Holocaust Research and Education is based at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. It serves as an interdisciplinary academic initiative that supports research, education, and public engagement in Holocaust studies.

The Hub advances Holocaust scholarship in a dynamic digital world. It is dedicated to developing and advancing innovative approaches to the preservation, transmission, and study of Holocaust history through pioneering methods, including immersive learning environments, AI platforms, and virtual reality.

The Hub aims to strengthen historical understanding and foster the moral responsibility essential to safeguard a more tolerant and just future.

Our Main Goals

Educate: Develop academic programs that advance Holocaust education into an active, immersive experience through VR, XR, and other technologies.

Advance Research: Support innovative Holocaust research and foster new scholarly frameworks grounded in rigorous analysis and methodological clarity.

Combat Distortion: Deploy digital strategies and algorithmic monitoring to examine the spread of misinformation on social media.

Safeguard the Humanities: Ensure that the voices and lived experiences of the Holocaust are preserved, studied, and ethically transmitted through pathways that engage the wider Maryland community.

The Hub provides a collaborative space for academic research, educational innovation, and interdisciplinary exchange within and beyond UMBC, bringing together scholars, students, institutional partners, and members of the wider community.
